Foundations Class


Caleb will be leading a 6 week Foundations class beginning Sunday, September 18th at the Park Slope Christian Tabernacle from 3pm to 4:30pm, before the evening service.

The class will cover basic elements in the life of following Jesus such as How to Read the Bible, Developing a Prayer Life, Life in Christian Community, Basic Theology, Generosity, and Forgiveness and Reconciliation.

Anyone is welcome to attend. Please RSVP so we know how many materials to have on hand.

All-Parish Football Tournament


To make our first ever All-Parish picnic a little more fun, a co-ed football game is being coordinated. You must register by August 3rd to play. All questions can be directed to Nate Poekert. See below for details and how to register!
Q. How does this work?
A. The church will be divided into 4 Groups – UWS, EastSide (UES & EV), Chelsea and Brooklyn. The winner gets bragging rights for their Parish for the next year.

Q. No Really, how does this work?
A. We will be using an abridged version of ZOG SPORTS CO-ED rules:
- There are a maximum number of players on a team but each team will FIELD 8 Players at a time. You MUST always have 3 GIRLS on the field at all times.
- 2 Hand Touch, 2 Halfs (Time TBD) 5 minute break for Halftime.
- All other rules will be explained in a later email to all participants.
Q. Awesome, I want to play, what should I do next?
A. Get a team together by contacting your lifegroup, coregroup, friends at your Parish, etc and email me your ROSTER along with the following:
- Parish (which church you attend)
- Team Name (be creative)
- Captain of the Team
Q. I only have about 5 people I could get to play. What should we do?
A. Email me those people and I’ll work on getting you on a team with other peeps.

Q. I’m new-ish to the church but I still want to play. What can I do?
A. Email me which church you go to and I’ll do my best to put you on a team with other people who go to your church.

Q. Half my team didn’t show up and it’s time to play. Are we DQd?
A. Yes.
Just kidding. It’s a church picnic. Grab some stragglers and we’ll do our best to make it work.

PLEASE NOTE

*Deadline to sign up is WEDNESDAY AUGUST 3RD
*Each Team will be responsible for bringing their own football – (Nerf Balls or Neon Footballs w/ Fins on them do not count)
*It is STRONGLY encouraged that your team wears Matching Colors or creates Uniforms
*Due to time & space, we are planning on a maximum of 8 teams allowing for 2 Teams from Each Parish. Exceptions can be made for more based off of interest but you are encouraged to get your team together ASAP.
*First Game will begin promptly at NOON. Tournament Bracket will be sent out on Friday. Official Rules will be sent out on Thursday.
