Missional Communities

What Are Missional Communities?

Our desire is that we would not just be inwardly focused, but that God would move us to see the real needs in the place we call home. For this reason our church is gathered into neighborhood collectives called missional communities. The purpose of these proximity based groups is to be regularly serving and loving our neighbors, caring for one another, and promoting justice in ways that clearly show the love and character of Jesus.

Each missional community develops practical project-based ways to meet the needs of others by encouraging individuals to use their gifts, talents and abilities to create and implement projects around our neighborhoods in Brooklyn. Past opportunities have included serving at the women’s shelter, working in a garden to grow and harvest fresh food for the Bed Stuy campaign against Hunger, participating in Help Portrait and teaching ESL classes to our neighbors.

Missional Communities convene once a month to intercede for our neighborhoods and collaborate on service initiatives.
