Christmas Spectacular 2

Dress in your most festive attire (or your tackiest, battery-operated sweater) on December 13th and join us at the Bell House at 8:30PM (doors open at 8:00) for our 2nd Annual Christmas Spectacular! Please give $8 at the door to help us cover the cost of spreading a little Christmas cheer.

This holiday sing-along is one of our favorite events of the year. We’ll have music, performances and a few surprises up our glitter and reindeer covered sleeves. Please invite your friends, co-workers and neighbors.

There’s also a dessert bake-off with prizes for best gluten-free treat, best overall, most creative and best traditional treats.
Some helpful bake-off tips:

-Please bring your dessert by 8PM, so we can set up the tables.
-You can serve your dessert out of whatever container you like, and you’re welcome (and encouraged!) to bring a cake stand, tray, etc to set up your treats.
-You are also encouraged to make a tag/sign for your item so people can identify what it is on the table, and bring a serving utensil for your item if one is needed.
-We’re expecting a crowd, so think about how the most people possible can enjoy what you’ve made. It’s OK for cookies, brownies, pies and cakes to be cut in small bites.
-Voting will be “blind” so there’s no need to put your name on your item, but we will have you sign in on a sheet at the table so that we can know who brought what once it’s time to award the prizes.
-If you have any questions about the bake-off, please email Kristen.

Annual Trip to Storm King Art Center

The annual Trinity Grace trip to the Storm King art center is Saturday, September 17. This is a great chance to get out of the city and see some amazing sculptures outdoors. Especially great for families but all are welcome.

Arrange your own transportation – meet there at around 11AM, and bring a picnic or buy food at the cafe. You can contact Brandy with any questions.

Check out our pictures from a previous trip here.

Read a short piece about the Storm King in the NY Times here.

Apple Picking at Hurd Family Farm

Saturday, Oct. 8th at 9AM
RSVP by Friday, September 23rd to secure a spot in a van.
The annual TGC apple-picking trip to Hurd’s Family Farm in New Paltz, NY is coming up! We’ll travel from Brooklyn together and meet up with our friends from the Manhattan neighborhood parishes there. This event is a great opportunity to connect to our community if you are new, or to bring non-church friends to.

There are two options to get there.

1. Rides will be available if you need one, and you can RSVP today if you need a ride. You must RSVP if you need a ride provided for you.

2. If you have your own car, you can either caravan with us, or head out on your own. If you have seats available in your car for extra passengers, email Kristen.

*Please note that this is an all-day event and we usually return to Brooklyn very late (as many people like to stop at the mall on the way home for shopping and dinner.) If you have small children or need to get back to the city at a specific time, we recommend arranging your own car rather than riding in a van.*

Noontime Prayer

“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” -Matthew 18:20

As a church, we are encouraging one another to pray together every Wednesday at noon, wherever we are, for the spiritual renewal of our great city.

Get together with others in your workplace, other TGC folks in the area where you work, or simply pray on your own. You can use the Lord’s prayer as a starting point, praying through the sections, taking 10 minutes or so per section.

We will be praying at the Brooklyn office each Wednesday, beginning today, and anyone who is in the area is free to join us-506 5th Avenue, between 12th and 13th Streets, buzzer #4 (F/R to 4th and 9th.) Please arrive by 11:50 so we can begin on time, and conclude by 1.

Serve on Sundays

One of the easiest and most fun ways to get connected to our church is to serve it. Each week, a number of dedicated individuals provide invaluable help and support in key areas to make sure we’re ready to worship together. Serving at Trinity Grace Brooklyn is an opportunity to know and be known, and doesn’t require a huge commitment (most people on our teams serve just once a month.)

If you would like to join one of the following teams, or ask specific questions, please contact the individual team leader. You are welcome to serve on more than one team, but bear in mind we also want you to feel free to simply come and worship with us—so we recommend no more than two teams, and serving no more than twice a month.

PRAYER | Tom Garvin
This is the spiritual backbone of our community. Opportunities for pre-service prayer together, post service prayer with individuals, and dedicated intercessory prayer training are available. Even if you’ve never prayed in a group or are just learning to pray, you are welcome on this team.

OPERATIONS | James Cernero
Help with set-up before the service and tear-down afterward, as well as troubleshooting during the service. This team arrives at 2PM and stays after the service to clean up.

HOSPITALITY | Kristen Ball
Set the spirit and tone of our services by being a welcoming presence. Includes greeting at the door, ushering people to open seats, answering questions during and after the service and helping with meals/post-service special events.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY | Allison Clardy
Our families need you! Assist with the spiritual formation of our youngest members by teaching, playing, loving and leading by example! Training provided.

MUSICIAN COMMUNITY | Zach Williams
If you’re a singer/songwriter, drummer, bassist, flautist or otherwise seasoned musician who loves to worship, there may be a place for you on our worship team! Please specify your instrument when you contact Zach.

VISUAL MEDIA | James Cernero
Those powerpoint presentations don’t make themselves! If you have a keen eye for design and grammar, as well as ideas for how to integrate other visual media elements during our services, this could be the team for you. This team also needs individuals who are willing to learn (or who know how) to run presentations and the sound board.
